The lake is the largest reserve of fresh water on the globe. The warmest place on lake Baikal is Peschanaya Bay, and the most sunlit spot is Olkhon Island. The origin of the name "Baikal" is unknown, but the most widely used and accepted version is one that says that this is a word of turk origin and contains two words: "bai" - rich, and "kul'" - lake, so the full meaning is a "rich lake". There are many reasons to visit the lake and experience the way of life over here.
