Historical museum complex “Reserve command center of the Supreme commander-in-chief of Red Army I.V.Stalin during The Second World War period starting from 1941 to 1945 y.” in Izmailovo. “Stalin’s Bunker” is a branch of Central museum of Armed Force.

Complex was finished and opened for visitors in 1996 y. Before the opening a huge restoration work made by the “Sports and sanitary Enterprise Izmailovo”.

The creation of this object takes period of the “thirties” of the last century. It was a part of the State programme and it had to provide a defensive capability of the country. The “thirties” is characterized in the Human history as an early beginning of The Second World War. Most of the events of that period have got political estimations, historical facts, which were a state secret are still unknown for the history.

When in January of the 1933 y. A.Gitler had got a post of the Main commander, when militarization of he German society was going on it was giving us a chance to make a conclusion that a war for the total change was unavoidable.

In Soviet Union it was understood very well, because they had information of the military and political intellengences.They knew very well that the military-economical potential they have won’t be able to resist a technically good equipped enemy.

In 1934 y. in USSR the programme of the intensive increase of the military and economic power was passed. Stalin understood that the potential that they have was not the same and that they have not much time left to create a reliable defense.

At the beginning of the “thirties” USSR did not have a good organized mass production of the automobiles, tanks, planes, heavy equipment. The transport and communication were in a critical condition.

To prepare country for defense Stalin decided to go on cunning Foreign policy. With each step they were making Stalin was trying to make them sure that they work on peaceful building and that Germany is Good friend and a partner.

In the end of the “thirties” in the USSR, in the regime of the extremely high confidentiality USSR were working on military building.

A.Gitler did not have a proper information about increase of military power in USSR that have made one of his fatal miscalculation in June of 1941y.

In conversation with the Bulgarian envoy in Germany Dragonov on 23rd November of 1940y.Gitler said: ”Russian Army is hardly exist , except only as a name’’. And in conversation with General-Field Marshal Keitel after the victory in France said: ’’We shown what we are capable for. Believe me Keitel after this campaign against Russia will be just a tactical game on the box with sand’’.

Secret service in the USSR was securing military preparation verygood so that the German intelligence was becoming useless.

Chief of the main intelligence agency of the General headquater for the Ground Forces of the Fascist Germany General Tippilskirh after the war in a book “Fatal decisions had written: ”Determine even approximately the military might of the USSR was practically impossible. Espionage did not have place in Soviet Union”. German general headquarter had just an approximate idea about what Soviet Union can do if the war takes place”.

Gitler confessed his miscalculation in April of 1944y. by saying that if he could be sure that Stalin would be able to prepare country to the war he would think few times before attack USSR.

At the mean time strategic aerodromes, railways, roads, bridges, factories, energy complexes were starting to build. Examples of the double function factories are:

-Tractor factory was building tanks;

-“Katusha” was built on the floodlight factory;

-Mechanical factory was building guns;

-Pasta factory after 15 minutes when pasta was made could make artillery gunpowder;

-ECT.

At the same time in Moscow a building of the subway system was started. To make this project more peaceable the best sculptors and artists were invited to do interior of the stations. They are: Manizer, Deipeka, Korin, Layzer and others. The masterpiece of Art was built under the ground.So; we have to be grateful to the regime of the high confidentiality for this greatness. Under the cover of this building project a huge bomb-shelter was creating (Moscow as a mega polis did not have enough underground shelters for everybody).

At the same time the special underground building for the military functions was creating: command centers, communications, ECT.

Underground communications with the military functions were in a few times bigger by its size than the subway so that the military part of it was a total state secret. This part was also called “second subway”.

Why we accent our attention on the second subway? The thing is that the object was the museum complex was the part of the second subway and was building at the same time. The object is connected with the center of the city (Kremlin) with 17 kilometers of the underground road. As its cover the stadium was chosen.

In the mass media was announced: “To defense sport meeting, the central stadium of the union SSR has to be build. It has to have: 120000 sits, enough quality of the different gyms building as a back up use so as studying and mass use. The Institution of the gymnastics with an academy, an Institute and an art institute”

For the all-union sport complex was given a place in the menagerie Izmailovo with the following frontiers:

-On the South-highway Izmailovo, that borders with park Izmailovo;

-On the North-highway Strominskoe;

-On the West-District railway;

-On the East-“broken” line that borders with Izmailovo village and the East frontier of the Silver Island, including water. The main object of the all-union SP was the stadium with 120000 sits and a maximum quality of the standing-up places. The center of it had to defense mass action.

A stand has to have a size of the symmetrical unequal hexagon, lower stall for the 36800 sits, upper stall for the 22000 sits and balconies for the 70200 people. A dispense from the center to a person has to be: max-171, 5 m, min-52, 5 m; maximum height of the sits from the ground -44 m.

Planning necessity of coming at the government stall leaders of the state during the mass sports and political actions, the stadium is connected by the underground system with the central part of Moscow city. In the of the under-stall space a quest Hall and work cabinets are foreseed.

In the year 1939 a construction of the underground part of the building was finished but the creation of all-union Sport complex – was stopped. The stadium was unfinished, but everything that was needed, was built. It is about 100000 square km of the underground areas.

From the outside and bird view you could see beautiful, completely finished football(soccer) field and a part of unfinished two-level stalls, sport building that do not look as a military object in no ways.

Why the big amount of the areas was made for? “Stalin’s Unit” takes only small area.

The thing is, that for the security of strategically object and a road, to the center of the city, under the ground areas, and the cover, a huge tank subunit was situated (about 150 tanks). Even now under the ground there are containers for the tank gas.

During the War there were about 2000 people. But outside no one could see any one. All life was passing by in the under ground regime. Entrances and exits were situated far away from the object.

By this, the total cover was provided.
